A BIT MORE ABOUT ME
Hi there,
I am Stefania Borona, a Greek teacher of Greek!
I started my teaching career in 2002 as a first year student at university. I gained my first hand experience in several NGO's in Greece. I started teaching Greek to foreign students who were studying in Greek universities, to immigrants and to refugees.
Then I moved to the private sector:I taught Modern/Ancient Greek , Latin and Persuasive Writing in educational Institutions which prepare high school students for the university entrance exams.
At the same time and since 2009 I have been tutoring online students of all backgrounds and ages: from adult foreigners who are learning Greek out of passion to primary school students who are aiming for a place or a scholarship in a top school such as the American College or the Experimental Schools.
I have also worked as a critic for public speaking and debates in school competitions for the Arsakeia-Tositseia Schools.
Funding my own summer school by the sea is amongst the accomplishments I feel more proud about. The Aristotle’s Institute promotes the Greek Language and Culture. Teaching Greek to mixed classes while having the opportunity to build strong relationships with the learners was a great experience.

However, my day to day interaction with students from all over the world motivated me to travel abroad, in order to broaden my horizons, explore different educational systems and enhance my teaching skills, hence my relocation to England in 2015.
I was excited ! With eyes wide open I wanted to learn anything new.I familiarised myself with the English educational sustem and the A Level and GCSE Exams.I feel incrediby lucky for having the opportunity to teach English, Latin, Computing & ICT in around 40 different Primary and Secondary Schools in East and West Sussex.
At the same time, I have helped many greek families within the Greek Community of the UK to keep their Greek alive and raise bilingual children. My last collaboration is with the Brighton Greek School of the Holy Trinity.

Today, I live and I teach in Brighton. My inner need to preserve the greek language and culture led me to the creation of the online school “Greek With Stefania”.
My aim is to give anyone in the world the opportunity to learn and speak Greek regardless of location.
My teaching approach aims to equally develop reading, listening, writing, and speaking skills whilst creating a joyful and creative atmosphere in the classroom.
I enjoy applying principles of game-based learning and using digital tools. I strongly believe that technology can enhance learning and offer great tools to create engaging lessons.
My lessons combine traditional and up to date teaching methods resulting in learning success. My studies in Philology combined with my Masters Degree in Information Systems, has given me the tools and the knowledge to enhance learner`s experience by using effectively Technology in online and face to face lessons!
MY STUDIES
My studies include: a BA with honors in Philology with a specialisation in Linguistics (QTS), a Certificate in Sex and Equality in School and Society, a MSc in Information Systems with a specialisation in E-Learning, a Certificate in Programming for Teachers.
I completed my studies in Greek and German Universities. I am proud of my Masters dissertation, directed by Dr E.Tampouris who was listed among the 50 most active and core researchers in the world on his domain, is entitled “ Teaching Latin in a virtual, multi-user 3D environment”.
MY STUDIES
As part of my thesis, I designed and created an innovative educational game for learning Latin language in a 3D Virtual Collaborative Learning Environment using OpenSim technology and applying the pedagogical principals of collaborative learning.
It's the only multi-user-collaborative game (in a 3D virtual environment) for Latin that exists online. With this research, I wanted to make an impact on the way that Classics are being taught. This is exactly what differentiates me from most other teachers: I strive to link the past with the future and the newest technology with a rigorous study of the classics.

My goal is to create a unique and personal learning experience
that takes into careful consideration the
specific goals, strengths, interests and needs of each student.
I work together with the student to create customised lessons.
No lesson is the same with another lesson.

She has helped dozens of students around the world to pass their Greek Exams and boost their confidence in speaking Greek. Her courses are targeted at students who wish to acquire Greek gradually and thoroughly by developing the four essential language skills – listening, speaking, reading and writing.
